United Arab Emirates has been elected to head the UNESCO's Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. The United Arab Emirates has urged all international donors to contribute to activities of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) so to enable it meets growing humanitarian needs of the Palestinian refugees.

Dubai, Oct 17, 2008 (WAM) - The UAE has been elected to the council of the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) for a two-year term.
