British Council launches a search for the UAE’s top visual arts talent Posted on 14/07/2008
The British Council has launched its first International Young Visual Arts Entrepreneur (IYVAE) Award in the UAE, which aims to champion and celebrate the importance of creative entrepreneurs. The IYVAE Award will identify a UAE National or resident who is working in the visual arts sector and who is able to demonstrate business success with a social or not-for-profit enterprise in this sector. Sheikh Mayed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (DCAA), on Sunday opened an exhibition of calligraphic works drawn from Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Art Collection 1. Etihad carries 180 Picasso works Posted on 29/05/2008
Etihad Crystal Cargo, a division of Etihad Airways, carried 180 master works of Pablo Picasso from Paris to Abu Dhabi ahead of the opening of the world-renowned art exhibition in the capital yesterday, a statement from Etihad Airways said. Embassy art gallery portrays warmth of cultural bonding Posted on 01/03/2008
The embassy of Switzerland in Abu Dhabi has turned its lobby into an art gallery to promote cultural exchange.
The first thing visitors see is a sand-dune shaped sculpture made by a Swiss artist, on sand brought from Switzerland, and paintings and sculptures by three UAE artists.

An antique collection 4,000 years in the making opens up Posted on 24/02/2008
An antique collector has opened a private museum in his home which will accept visitors by appointment. Dr Ahmad Khouri, 56, has been collecting items for four decades and has acquired about 6,000 antiques of historical value. A lock-shaped marble sculpture dating back 4,000 years is the oldest item in Khouri's collection, which also includes 2,000 silver and gold coins.
