Cabinet issues decision to regulate import of palm trees
HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai issued a decision yesterday, regulating import of palm trees to the UAE. Article 1 of the decision empowers the Minister of Environment and Water to ban import of palm trees or plants from any country where cases of red palm weevil or any palm diseases are registered. The Cabinet yesterday endorsed the new official coat of arms of the UAE, approved by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, WAM reported. Federal and local authorities should start using the new emblem from May 1 with a final deadline of December 31, the Cabinet said. It must be used on documents such as passports and driving licences when they get renewed.
