Sewa to invest Dh870m to meet water demand Posted on 22/12/2008
Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) is currently executing several projects in the city worth Dh870 million to meet the growing demand for water.
Sewa Director General Al Waleed Khalid bin Khadem said a number of important and vital transfer lines are being built, while some old transfer and distribution lines are replaced. Distribution networks are being built or modified and the storage capacity increased to secure a proper reserve of water for emergencies.

Sharjah boosts water and power production capacity Posted on 10/12/2008
In the first nine months of the current year, Sharjah's production of underground and desalinated water grew by about 5 per cent to 23.9 million gallons of drinking water compared to 22.7 million gallons of drinking water in the corresponding period last year, according statistics released by Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA).
As for power, the figures showed an increase of 6.8 per cent to 7483,3 million kilowatt from 7006,9 million kilowatt for the same period under review.

Taqa, Gazprom to launch Dutch gas storage project Posted on 06/12/2008
Amsterdam - Abu Dhabi National Energy Company said on Friday it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Gazprom to jointly develop the Bergermeer gas storage project in the Netherlands.
Abu Dhabi National Energy, also known as Taqa, said construction of the project is expected to start in the second quarter next year, with commercial operations scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2013.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, yesterday opened the Khor Fakkan water desalination plant in the eastern region of Sharjah.

Abu Dhabi, UAE - Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC, a publicly listed company on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX: TAQA), yesterday reported financial results for the period ended 30 September 2008.
Net profit after minority interests increased 318%, reaching Dh1.6 billion in the first nine months of 2008 compared with Dh381 million in the same period in 2007.

Abu Musa Island gets new power and water plants Posted on 28/10/2008
The Sharjah government has provided for the Abu Musa island new power generating and water desalination plants to supply the people of the island their requirement of water and electricity.
The Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) provided the island with a 1100-Kilowatt power generator and a 15,000 gallons per day capacity water desalination plant. Both plants will start operation within the next few days.

The Khorfakkan Desalination plant began production yesterday with a generation capacity of 5 million gallons per day, the Sharjah Electricity '&' Water Authority (SEWA) announced.
