There will be more than 26,000 hotel rooms in Abu Dhabi by 2012 and business tourism is a key focus of the emirate's tourism strategy, the chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) said here on Monday.
"Abu Dhabi's hotel room inventory will be in excess of 26,000 in 2012 and the destination is also rapidly developing international convention expertise to ensure its success as a major global meetings destination," said Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan.

Sharjah has registered 75 per cent growth in its hotel occupancy for the third quarter of 2008, with an increase of 13 per cent in the number of tourist visiting the emirate, according to statistic reports issued by the Sharjah Commercial and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA).

Expensive Atlantis suite damaged in fire Posted on 05/09/2008
The US$25,000 (Dh91,850) a night Bridge Suite at the Atlantis resort on Palm Jumeirah has reportedly been damaged by smoke, according to Gulf News sources.
The Bridge Suite is 924 square metres in size. It connects the west and east towers in the centre of the hotel, which is due to open later this month.
