 Ajman Marina prepares infrastructure for big projects

Ajman continues to pave the way for big real estate projects to be developed in the emirate by continuing to execute various infrastructure projects, including road networks, and water and drainage systems.
The current total cost for these infrastructure projects is Dh 408m, and it is expected to cost a further Dh 4bn in the future, according to an official from the Municipality planning department.

 Creek expansion to make Bur Dubai an island

The planned extension of Dubai Creek will create a complete inland waterway from Deira to Jumeirah, turning Bur Dubai into an island.
Dubai Creek, which starts from the Arabian Gulf near Al Shindagha in Bur Dubai, is currently 14km long and ends at Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary.
It will be extended by another 12.2km from Ras Al Khor, back to the Arabian Gulf, passing through Business Bay, Sheikh Zayed Road, Safa Park, Al Wasl, Jumeirah 2 and the Jumeirah Beach Park.

 Khorfakkan desalination plants begins operation

The Khorfakkan Desalination plant began production yesterday with a generation capacity of 5 million gallons per day, the Sharjah Electricity '&' Water Authority (SEWA) announced.
"The plant will produce 2.5 MGPD in the initial phase following completion of the trial operation, technical tests and water filtration," said Ahmed Mohammed Al Mulla, SEWA's Deputy Director for technical Affairs.

The Sharjah government has allocated Dh1.24 billion to finance the expansion and completion of sewage treatment and road construction projects.

 Aldar raises Dh7b for project funding

Abu Dhabi-based real estate developer Aldar Properties PJSC has borrowed Dh6.98 billion (US$1.9 billion) this financial year for project funding, a top-ranking company executive said on Wednesday.
"The money has been raised through the capital markets and bilateral facilities. It will be utilised to develop our ongoing projects in the emirate of Abu Dhabi," Shafqat Malek, Aldar's chief financial officer, told Gulf News in an interview.

 Jebel Ali sewage water pumping station to be ready by mid 2009

Dubai Municipality has completed more than 58pc of the work of setting up the new sewage water pumping station at Jebel Ali, which is being set up at a cost of Dh195 million. The project, fifth biggest of the ongoing projects of the Municipality's Drainage and Irrigation Department, also includes setting up of necessary supporting pipelines.

Burj Dubai, the iconic tower being developed by Emaar Properties PJSC, has reached a new record height of 688 meters (2,257.2 ft). Floating booms will prevent reclamation foam from reaching swimming areas around the Shoreline Apartments, a Nakheel spokesperson told Emirates Business yesterday. Residents of the apartments were recently given letters from the developer warning them of fine sediment in the waters.
