Dubai exports increase 25% to Dh57bn Posted on 19/11/2008
The value of exports and re-exports shipped by members of the Dubai Chamber of Trade and Industry in the third quarter of 2008 has totalled Dh56.6 billion.
This was 25 per cent higher than the Dh45.3bn registered during the same period in 2007. However, the figure represented a 1.7 per cent decline from the Dh57.6bn recorded in the second quarter of the year.

UAE exports set to reach Dh758b as GDP climbs Posted on 18/11/2008
The UAE's exports for 2008 are forecast to reach Dh757.8 billion, up from an estimated Dh607.7 billion in 2007, while its import levels this year are forecast to reach Dh491.7 billion, the Oxford Business Group said in 'The Report: Abu Dhabi 2008', released here on Monday.
The UAE's GDP in 2007 reached Dh729.7 billion, according to the Ministry of Economy.

Dubai's rice trade value leaps by 155% in 1st half 2008 Posted on 10/11/2008
Rice trade in Dubai has made a quantum leap in terms of value during the first six months of 2008, achieving a remarkable 155.3 per cent rise compared to the same period of last year.
Figures released by the Statistics Department of Dubai World also showed that the growth is by 42.2 per cent in terms of volume over the same period.

Japanese exports to UAE surge on rising demand for machinery Posted on 06/11/2008
Fuelled by rising demand for transport equipment and electrical machinery, Japan's exports to the UAE climbed by 33.1 per cent to US$8 billion (Dh29.4 billion) in 2007, compared to US$6 billion in 2006.
Overall, commerce between the two countries surged by 7.2 per cent, from US$37.6 billion in 2006 to US$40.3 billion in 2007, according to statistics released by the Japan External Trade Organisation (Jetro) in Dubai.

Dubai's total trade of polished diamonds reached US$5.29 billion at the end of the first six months of 2008, the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE), a subsidiary of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), announced yesterday.

Dubai-France non-oil trade rises to Dh7.47 billion in six months Posted on 29/10/2008
Bilateral non-oil trade between Dubai and France increased by 26.7 per cent in the first half of 2008, compared with that of the same period in 2007.
The figures released by the Statistics Department of Dubai World showed that trade between the two countries amounted Dh7.47 billion (about US$2billion) during the first six months of this year, while it was Dh5.9 billion during the same period last year — an increase by Dh1.57 billion.

Imports of GCC through UAE touch Dh36 billion Posted on 23/10/2008
Total of GCC imports through UAE ports and borders soared to Dh36 billion from 2003 to 2007, according to Mohammed Khalifa bin Fahad Al Muhairi, director general of the Federal Customs Authority (FCA).
He added that the clearance committee endorsed the custom duties charged against the imports until 2007. It transferred them fully to the members, adding that the transfer of the custom duties to members "is in line with the commitment of the FCA to make unified customs experience a success."

The non-oil trade between Dubai and the Association of South-East Asian Nations (Asean) countries, which includes Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Myanmar (Burma), Cambodia, Brunei and Laos, accounted for Dhs23 billion in the first half of 2008, compared to Dh17 billion recorded during the same period of 2007.

UAE's imports from Pakistan rise 50% to US$1.8b Posted on 04/10/2008
The UAE's imports from Pakistan increased 50 per cent this year compared with the previous year, according to trade figures from the Pakistani Commercial Office in Dubai.
Imports increased from US$1.2 billion in 2007 to US$1.8 billion in 2008. The UAE was the largest importer from Pakistan in the Arab region.
The Arab region imported goods worth US$3.36 billion in the July 2007-May 2008 period, an increase of 40.4 per cent from the year before.

Imports to the UAE from major European Union markets witnessed a double-digit decline for the past two years, according to statistics by Dubai World.
The 2007 external trade statistics for Dubai shows that imports from the UK to the UAE declined from more than 8.1 billion Euros in 2005 to 5.3 billion Euros the following year, a decline of 35 per cent. A further decline of 25 per cent was posted in 2007, an import value of 3.9 billion Euros.

UAE non-oil trade with US soars 35pc to US$8.9b Posted on 28/09/2008
The UAE non-oil trade with the US, one of the major trading partners of the Emirates, showed an impressive growth of over 35 per cent up to July this year, according to official US statistics.
According to the data compiled by the US Census Bureau, the total non-oil trade between the two countries during the first seven months (Jan-July) of 2008 remained at US$8.924 billion, compared with US$6.594 billion in the same corresponding period of 2007.
